Music for Relief

 Música para el Socorro está respondiendo a las ayudas a los supervivientes del huracán Ike y otras tormentas de 2008, la temporada de huracanes del Atlántico.

En la Costa del Golfo: Ike llegó a tierra en Galveston, Texas el viernes por la noche como una tormenta de categoría dos inundaciones más de 100.000 hogares en southeastern Texas y fue devastador en las comunidades costeras de Texas y Louisiana. 

 Al día de hoy más de 30.000 evacuados aún viven en cerca de 300 refugios públicos, y aproximadamente 2 millones de personas en Texas por sí solas, sin el poder.

En Haití: Cuatro tormentas - Fay, Gustav, Hanna y Ike - han afectado a Haití desde mediados de agosto, matando a más de 600 personas y que afectan a cientos de miles más.

Graves inundaciones y lavado de puentes y carreteras han hecho difícil para entregar alivio a muchas de las zonas más afectadas, incluida la ciudad portuaria ofGonaives.  Decenas de miles de personas estan en refugios sin alimentos, agua, colchonetas o letrinas. Hasta 3 millones de personas están en riesgo de morir de hambre después de la vuelta a las tormentas de nuevo eliminando los cultivos alimentarios.

Música para el Socorro está trabajando para que la comunidad musical junto a los fondos adicionales de material médico de emergencia para los centros de salud y refugios de evacuación y tratamiento de la vivienda a los afectados por las tormentas.
